Add parts to tasks

Written by Christy Umberger

Adding parts to tasks helps your technician know what parts they will need to complete their work.

Add a part to a task

  1. Go to the Tasks page and open a task.

  2. In the task, find the Parts section and click Add parts.

  3. In the new window, navigate to the correct site and select the part(s) you want to add.

  4. Click Add selected part.

The part will be linked in the task with its part number, required quantity, and part location.

  5. If you need more than one of the same part, you can double-click into the Required quantity box and update the number.

If a part has been added to a task, the inventory will show those parts as reserved until the task has been completed.

If an inventory threshold is reached by completing the task, a notification will be sent to whoever has been assigned to the threshold tasks for parts ordering.

Add a part to a PM template

  1. Go to the Templates page > PMs tab and open a template.

  2. In the template, find the Parts section and click Add parts.

  3. In the new window, navigate to the correct site and select the part(s) you want to add.

  4. Click Add selected part.

The part will be linked in the task with its part number, required quantity, and part location.

  5. If you need more than one of the same part, double-click into the Required quantity box and update the number.

Remove a part from a task

To remove a part from a task, click the trash icon to the far right of the linked part.

Prevent task completion if parts aren't available

You can ensure tasks are only completed when there are enough parts.

  1. Go to Configuration center > Work and task management > General task settings.

  2. Under Task completion, turn on the Prevent task completion when parts are understocked toggle.
