You can create PM templates to standardize repeatable preventive maintenance work, so you don't have to rebuild the same workflow each time.
PM templates are created and managed in the template library.
To learn more about PM schedules, read Understanding PM schedules.
Creating a PM template
Use the site selector in the top header of the Templates page (next to Viewing) to control the Template library, not the site selector in the left navigation.
Go to the Templates page > PMs tab.
Use the site selector at the top of the page to choose the site for your templates.
Click Create PM template.
Enter a title.
Optionally, choose to copy from an existing PM template.
Click Create PM template.
Enter the template details, including which assets it's associated with, who it's assigned to, custom tags, parts, and more.
Next, create a schedule.
Adding a schedule to a PM template
From within the PM template, click Create schedule.
In the side window, select the Time-based, Usage-based, or Threshold-based tab.
For a time-based schedule, set the occurrences, the time the task generates at, and the starts-on date.
For a usage-based schedule, choose the asset field to track, then set the current value and the usage amount at which the next PM generates.
For a threshold-based schedule, choose the asset field to track and set the threshold value.
Leave the Enable PM schedule toggle on to activate the schedule now, or turn it off to save the schedule without generating tasks.
Click Save PM schedule.
Next, add instructions.
Important to know: Usage-based and threshold-based schedules only appear as options once the template is associated with an asset that has a relevant field to track. Add an asset first, then create the schedule.
Advanced PM schedule options (including holidays, seasons, skip occurrences, etc.) are not yet available in the new desktop experience.
Return to Limble legacy to use these options. They will show in the new desktop once they're configured in legacy.
Add and preview instructions
Click the Instructions tab at the top of the PM template to add instructions.
Click Edit instructions > Add instruction, then build out the template instructions.
When finished, click Create template.
From the Instructions editor, click the Preview Instructions toggle to review what a technician will receive when executing a task made from this template.
Toggle back to Edit to continue editing.
Important to know: anything you do in preview mode is not saved. Changes don't persist between Edit and Preview, and nothing from the instructions preview carries over to tasks created from the template.
Some advanced instructions (such as starting a work order or capturing a signature) appear in preview but can't be fully tested there.
